Auto Focus Module based on Optical Triangulation Principle Auto Focus Module based on Optical Triangulation Principle
Auto Focus Module
iFocus is an FPGA-based auto-focus module that incorporates iCore's specialized circuit, mechanical, optical, and control design technologies.
The Auto Focus Module is applied in high-magnification optical systems of AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) and microscope inspection systems, and is used in various fields.
iCore has developed a variety of sensing types for auto-focus sensors, such as TTL (Through The Lens) and Optical Triangulation, tailored to meet customer needs. Additionally, various lens modules and Z-axis actuators, used in conjunction with the auto-focus sensor, are also designed in-house, providing diverse solutions to satisfy customers.

Auto Focus Feature
Automatic focus adjustment with Auto Focus
In high magnification optical systems, the depth of field (DOF) is shallow, which may cause focus issues when the height of the subject changes. iCore provides a solution that measures the distance between the optical system and the subject in real-time, maintaining a constant distance.
External Optical Triangulation Type Auto Focus
The iFocus Triangulation Type is an auto focus module that uses optical triangulation, where the AF sensor captures the displacement of a laser beam reflected from the target object. The AF sensor calculates the pixel-level distance around the focus area and performs real-time motor control.
Through The Lens Type Auto Focus
The iFocus TTL type is an auto focus method that measures the distance to the sample based on laser light passing through the internal path of the lens to focus. Unlike the traditional external triangulation method, where it was difficult to install external lighting below or around the objective lens due to laser interference, this method allows for a wider range of lighting usage and is particularly suited for high-magnification optical systems over 20x.
High-speed Focus Update Rate of 1.2kHz
iFocus is equipped with a high-speed FPGA that updates the focus data 1,200 times per second, measuring the height of the sample in real-time even in high-speed environments. With real-time position measurement, Auto Focus can be implemented not only in typical area cameras but also in inspection environments using line scan cameras.
Equipped with High-Speed FPGA
iFocus, equipped with a high-speed FPGA, measures positions in real-time based on the fast 1.2kHz Focus Update Rate and also includes a control function that controls the Z-axis based on the measured data.
Multi-Layer Function up to 5 Layers
iFocus's multi-layer function can recognize up to 5 layers and automatically track the focus of the layer designated by the user, adjusting the focus even in stacked sample structures.

It moves adjacent lenses within 0.2 seconds and guarantees an accuracy of ±1μm.
It is optimized as a solution when applied to iCore's iFocus (auto-focus module).
Focus Update Rate
Auto Focus that automatically adjusts the focus
In high-magnification optical systems, shallow depth of field (DOF) can cause the focus to be lost when the height of the subject changes.
iCore provides a solution that measures the distance between the optical system and the subject in real-time, maintaining a constant distance.
